The PILATES philosophy is all about strengthening your body and your mind for optimal health.
Joseph Pilates practiced his method in England during WWI, helping to rehabilitate injured soldiers. The roots of the method are entirely restorative and progressed to becoming a form of rigorous training . The development of the Pilates equipment - including the Reformer, the Cadillac and the Chair - refined the method to further heighten the mind-body connection and the potent restorative capacity of the method.
As Pilates became popularized, many gyms chose to adopt some of the principles while turning it into nothing more than a rigorous form of exercise, losing touch with the restorative roots of the method.
At The Loft, we hold to Joseph Pilates original vision of a restorative form of movement therapy which can take an individual from a place of rehabilitation to a place of vital strength and fitness conditioning.
