WHAT IS FELDENKRAIS?
The Feldenkrais Method is an educational system centered on movement, aiming to expand and refine the use of the self through awareness: "Awareness Through movement". It is often regarded as “complementary discipline” that offers change to the physical body working mainly with the nervous system. It enables discovery of new choices through awareness and expands a person’s choice and response. As a result, you will learn to move better by replacing restricted or poor habitual movement that creates chronic pains, tension or disorders by fluid, easy and efficient ones.
The Feldenkrais Method was originated by Dr Moshé Feldenkrais, a Ukrainian-born Jewish physicist and judo practitioner who presented a view that good health means “functioning well”
The Feldenkrais Method practitioners generally receive more than 800 hours of formal training over the course of four years.
"Make the impossible, possible and the possible graceful and fluid" Moira Baynes.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Evening Cat:
Observe your cat: quick to react, quick to relax, alert to its environment, light on its feet or heavy as the mood strikes. Come out to this class and discover how learning from your cat can boost your Pilates, dance or yoga practice and make your everyday activities easier and more energizing. Gentle movements will free your pelvis and spine to connect fluidly to your limbs. This will take pressure off your joints, calm your mind and boost your energy. Inspired by cats’ resilience, power and grace, this class is suitable for students of all ages and ability levels.
